Today was the last day in Durham and tomorrow I will start my journey back home, stopping in New York. I am excited to see all my family and friends again but the thought of being home in less than a week is just unreal. It seems like yesterday that I left the plane and met my host family the first time. The time here went by so fast but now, looking back, I can say that it was a once-in-a-lifetime, eye-opening experience. I know that I will come back, sooner or later!
I really want to thank EVERYBODY who has accompanied me on this journey, especially my host family, friends, my liaison Drew and all the other AFS people here. You have influenced me in so many POSITIVE ways and you made it possible that I was able to spend this amazing year in the US. You have supported me, have stuck with me and I will miss you guys so much. Thank you!
I have so many thoughts I don't really know what else to write. I will write again when I am safely back home in Germany. I hope we will stay in touch and see each other again.
Best,
Peer
