Emotions - and a soda fountain (or how you can combine these two)

Hi guys!

I try to write my first article in english, haha. I mean, I actually know that the following senteces will be completly wrong, but I wanna that everybody can understand what I write because some people here asked me what I'm writing about. First of all, if you find any faults, you can take them, I don't care.

I have been in America for 6 weeks now, I guess. I mean, I don't want to count the time I'm here now, neither I wanna count the time I have left. That makes me depressive and nobody wants that I'm depressive, I guess.
So far so good.
The six weeks (or whatever) I have been here were the best weeks of my life yet and I hope, no I KNOW, that the next months here in America will be the best months in my life.
I mean, I met so many people yet, everybody is veryveryveryvery friendly and bit by bit I feel like that's my new home. When I come home after school and I can see our house, it feels like home and I guess that thats the most important thing.
Moreover, there are some people who are more than only friendly, I mean in Germany we are friendly to new people too, but thats it. I think we are on the right way to become friends, or we already are friends and we don't know it yet. (I don't want to name the people, but I hope they know that I'm talking to them!) A very first thank you, that you try to integrate me!
After the first 4 weeks of school, I got some routine. I mean, American school is so different from german school (and I like the german system more ;) ), but I think that I'm on the right way. Sometimes I have to say to myself that the grades here don't count and that I don't have to be so ambitious as in Germany (and it works, what surprise!)
I would say that the school is the best way to learn english, and I guess that I improved my english skills the last few weeks (It would be awkward if I hadn't improve them). The most important point I noticed is that I can understand the people better when they're talking to me (and also if they don't).

Finally, I want to say three more things about America:

1. There are no sidewalks. That's dangerous, Very dangerous. But I don't care because nobody walks, except from home to the bus stop and back.

2 .I love the Burger King soda fountain. First, I have to clarify the Germans: If you buy a drink, you always get the cup and there is always a fountain where you can fill you cup with whatever you want and how often you want. The one at Burger Kind is awesome. It looks like a big CocaCola-can, with a big-size touchscreen and a hole for your cup. You can see like 24 different kind of sodas (the brand) there (From Minute Maid to Cola to Dr Pepper back to Fanta to Sprite and so on). At this moment, I was totally stunned, I mean, when do you have the choice between 24 different kind of sodas? Then, I chose one, and THEN I WAS MORE THAN STUNNED. I chose ordinary Coke, and a submenu popped up. I had the choice between 10 kinds of Cola. Normal Coke, Coke Lime, Vanilla Coke, Cherry Coke, Grape Coke, whatever Coke. And that for nearly every kind of soda in the main menu. In total, they have like 150 DIFFERENT KINDS OF SODA! 150! ONEHUNDRETFIFTY! That's so awesome, that I wrote a whole paragraph about a stupid soda fountain.

3. I had 15 meals this week (from monday to friday, 3x a day). I guess 8 of 15 was Pizza. (Also for breakfast.) Welcome to America!

Don't worry, I won't become fat, seriously not.

If you didn't understand everything, lovely Germans (greets to my grandparents :)) ), ask me, I will tell you what I wrote. :)

Good Night!

  1. Hi Peer, i knew the Fast-Food-Variations would really knock you out. 150 kinds of soda ... The new President of the US may have to solve similar problems as Monsieur Charles de Gaulle in the 20st century. "Wie soll ich ein Land regieren, in dem es mehr Käsesorten gibt, als das Jahr Tage hat?" Sorry, I can't translate this, but maybe you can?
Greetings from the devils's moor. :-)
